Freedom Writers Diary

I will talk about domestic violence.
The diary 63 is about a latino girl who is abused by his boyfriend. He hits her, squeezes her arms and calls her names. But she loves him. She needs him, he is the security. I quote " We were like a fire triangle, he was the oxygene, I was the flame, and together we made the fuel. "

I can relate it to the movie " American History X " when the son hits his mother and his sister.
I like the fact to learn about other how they live but I didn't like the theme: it's not very funny.

questionnaire "Freedom Writer's Diary"

1. Why did Ms Gruwell have the Freedom Writers study the Holocaust and meet Holocaust survivors?

She had them study the Holocaust to show them their life in the ghetto where violence and racism rule has similarities t what happened during Nazi era. She wanted to show them the racism is useless.

2. How did the Freedom relate to Anne Frank? Give examples.

They identify to Anna Frank because they live in a kind of daily war and like her they are sometimes alone. They compare Anne Frank's diary to their life. They had a lot of problems, Ms Gruwell tried to help them.

3. In what way Zlata Filipovic impacted the students’ lives? Give example from several writers. What did really surprise the Freedom writers?

Zlata lived during the war but she doesn't belong to a gang. She managed to come out of the war. They have a lot in common (diary 38) she has lived during the war and the student are living in the streets; they live in a sort of war too. In diary 37 a student says: " I'm beginning to realize that Anne Frank, Zlata Filipovic, and I have a lot in common."

4.In diary 47, the writer says: ”Now if you ask me what race I am, like Zlata, I’ll simply say, “I’m a human being.””How could you explain that quote? Do you relate to it?

I think she understands that race isn't the most important thing. For her every ethnicity is equal. (diary 47). I think there isn't a person more important then another.

Freedom Writers' diary

I think I would invite someone who lived during world war II like Anne Frank. I'm sure we would learn many things about the war.

If you don't try to understand him he doesn't want to understand you. They learn to know people from inside.

People in the gangs try to fit stereotypes, but they don't really exist.

The Freedom Writers are Black, Caucasian, Asian and Latino.

The "hood" is dangerous, there are graffiti on the walls, beer bottles filling trashcans, empty cigarette packs and syrings on the floor.

Sometimes their parents are dead or in jail (diary 6) so they are absents.

They are killed someone (diary 12).

Their problems are Racial riots, Discrimination, gang rivalry and buying a gun to survive.

It's not easy to lose a friends even in the hood. But for their it's usual to lost someone: a friend , a family member in an indeclared war in the US.

She teaches them to question things. They can change and not stay into their stereotypes.

my February vacation

During the vacation I don't plan anything, I just want to enjoy day after day...I don't want to go skiing. I want to spend a lot of time with my bestfriend and nobody else because my boyfriend isn't here: he is going to ski in Zermatt. I will go shopping or going to the cinema. It depends the weather. I think I am going to party everynight!

my daily life

Hi, I am going to write about my daily life:
In general, I wake up at 6:30 a.m. First, I wash my face and put make up on. It takes me approximately 30 minutes. Then I take my breakfast with my little brother. For my breakfast, I eat cereals and I drink milk with Ovomaltine. After that, I go in the bathroom to wash bross my hair.
I leave home for school at 7:40. Usually the classes begin at 8:05 but on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I start at 10:00. At midday, I come back home or I stay and I eat at school.
When I come back home, my mother cook for us. But when I stay at school I go in the sandwich shop and I buy a sandwich. But sometimes I eat in the cafeteria.
After school, I come back home and do my homework. Generally, I come out when I finish my homework. I meet my friends and we talk about the day sold.
I leave in an appartment with my parent and my brother. I share my room with my brother but it don't disturb me.
